Besides the comfy seats, business class passengers would also enjoy meals which are included in the tickets. The meals will be served by the ETS train steward/stewardess on board.

Hi Sheren, yes you may purchase the tickets vice versa.
The business class price from Ipoh to KL Sentral is RM50 one-way (Promo price until 30th November 2019)

Also, note that the KL-Ipoh Sentral or Ipoh-KL Sentral can only be booked 24 hours before the journey.
This is the same for the existing Platinum booking where KTM would only open the bookings 24hours before the train journey.

      Hi Andrew,
The business class price for senior citizens is RM29 (KL Sentral – Ipoh) and RM90 (KL Sentral – Padang Besar).

For the new ETS2 trains (KL Sentral – Padang Besar), it does not stop at Kepong Sentral.
For ETS1 trains (KL Sentral – Ipoh), it follows the same Platinum train routes.
Hence, you’ll need to check when purchasing the tickets if it stops at Kepong Sentral.

    Dear Sir/Madam
I would like to purchase the Business Class ticket from KL Sentral-Ipoh-KL Sentral. Depart on 26 October 2019 and return 27 October 2019. Can I buy the tickets via online now or go personally to KTM station to buy the tickets? I have also booked the tickets online but I think it is not Business class. The ticket shows Ordinary ticket.

      Hi Kim,
Upon checking with the KTMB officer, the KL Sentral-Ipoh/Ipoh-KL Sentral business class tickets will only open for sale 24-hours before departure.
It has limited seats and only one coach (Coach A) on the normal ETS train.

You may change your normal tickets to business class but under certain terms & conditions set by KTMB.
Our best advice is to check directly with KTMB about your current tickets.
You may want to refer to the FAQ section of KTMB here.

Hi Azlan, the business class option is kinda complex.
When we asked the customer support of KTMB, they mentioned that business class tickets will only be open for sales 24hours before that train departure.
Even then, it sells off really fast since there’s only 1 business class coach per train.

Hi Linges, just got off the phone with KTMB customer support.
      Answering your questions:
      – The fare for business class from Ipoh to KL Sentral is RM50 (Promo price till 29th Feb 2020)
      – For Ipoh to KL Sentral (or vice versa), you cannot check or buy business class tickets online/mobile app
      – You can only purchase the tickets over the counter 1 hour before the train departure time (Yes, we hate this system too)
      – Business class trains are normal platinum trains (Butterworth – KL Sentral or Padang Besar – KL Sentral) with just the first coach as business class
      – There are only 36 seats in a business class coach (Hence, it will be sold out quick)
      – There are 2 business class trains scheduled each day from Ipoh to KL Sentral (EP9173 @ 2.50pm & EP9275 6.30pm)

True. We feel the same thing after tons of calls to KTMB.
They are just making it super inconvenient for people to buy them.
That 1-hour purchase window was really shockingly frustrating.
      We’re sad too 🙁

Hi, it’s 2023 and this 1 hour release of tickets for Platinum train KL to/from Ipoh seems to still apply. And many times… the whole train is already sold out (4 sears left but are OKU) not just business coach. I checked the Kl to/from Padang Besar platinum train and I think they sell those earlier and only if there are leftovers, they release it for sale. 😢 At this rate, taking a trip to Ipoh on the platinum train is like playing lottery.
